About time i put a wee post up, been a while!
First things first in late February/early March, my back injury forced me off the bike for nearly 3 weeks and it's still not 100% but I have so many big races coming up as criteria for the junior commonwealth games that i can't afford to sit about. I am going to fight the next few weeks with it and hopefully get through and do well enough to get selected and that way i can then rest and recuperate in time for the commonwealth.
Although this winter has been full of upset with several setbacks, my season started strongly on the 12th March. I was down near Stirling racing the Corrieri 10mile TT and I managed to get my first junior win of the year in my new RT23 kit!! I posted a time of 25.44 just 27 seconds off my all time PB! Which i was super delighted with as usually i'm usually a slow starter to the racing season and go faster as the season goes on and with all the setbacks i've had huge relief to know i'm not behind the top girls. Not only that but my awesome new team mate Catriona Macgillivray won the ladies event too! So a big start with a big win for out team! :)
Yesterday I raced the Gifford National Road Race down near Edinburgh. Not only was it a tough hilly course but the whole race was in the pouring rain and it was freezing! Even though i got dropped early on in the race i lasted longer than last year and was joined by Gemma not long after so we helped each other round the rest of the course! She was brilliant and took over on most of the climbs where i was a bit weaker with my back and then i tried to give her a bit of rest on the shorter drags and flats. We shared the downhills! It was such a great expererience team time trialling the race with her and we both thought we worked pretty well as a team as we played it to our strengths! In the end i got 3rd which i was more than happy with considering my back problems leading up to it, and it has prepared me well to tackle the challenging junior Gent Wevelgem on Sunday! Ouch!! Looking forward to it.
Thanks everyone for reading and for the continued support! :)
