Onwards

Over the past couple of weeks I have trained very hard in the hope of making some progress and getting back on track. Big long rides, some hard efforts, i was totally focused on getting fitter and stronger again, putting my injuries behind me. And over the wkd all the hard work payed off and I'm back on track. On Saturday I raced the Forres 10 mile TT and got a PB of 24 minutes and 25 seconds beating my last time by almost 30 seconds and taking the 1st lady prize along with it. Just over 13 minutes out, and 11 minutes back. Then on Sunday I raced the Forres APR, where I worked with my group to last 2 and a half laps of the 4 lap course ahead of the race. But then it all came together for the finish and it sure was an exciting one! It was fast and a bit sketchy as riders were pushing to get into the front for the bunch sprint. I managed to get on one of my rivals wheels and followed her to the finishing straight. When the men all launched their sprint gaps were opening up all over and i could see she was pushing hard into the wind. I waited a little longer then jumped off her wheel edging just ahead to beat her in the sprint! But also much to my delight taking 10th overall.

I'm very pleased with how the wkd went after the work i've put in to rebuild some form. It's always a confidence boost to pick up a win or two but really nice to pay back my coach especially. The work Peter puts in to help me improve, he knew exactly what i needed to do to progress and move forwards, I couldn't have done it without him. So it was very special to see him win the APR too!
